My Top Five (5) Hair Relaxers

Hair Relaxers are types of lotions or creams generally used by people with tight curls or very curly hair which makes hair easier to straighten by chemically “relaxing” the natural curls. The active agent is usually a strong alkali, although some formulations are based on ammonium thioglycolate instead” – Wikipedia .  Like I mentioned in my previous hair post, I find it easier to manage my hair when it’s relaxed and in no particular order, here are my top five (5) hair relaxers.

  • Vitali Olive Oil Anti-Breakage No-Lye Conditioning Relaxer is used for silky, soft and healthy straight hair. Detangles and helps straighten natural curls.

It contains Vitamins A and E for healthy hair growth.

Dr. Miracle’s No Lye Relaxer Kit
I’ve been using relaxer kits (regular because my hair texture is fine) for a very long time, hence the mention of kits in this post. However, the good thing is that most of these relaxers come in cups too if your hair is used to the cup formulation. Dark and Lovely would have made this list a few years back but after buying over 4 packs of counterfeit kits last year, I decided to let our love end there. They were probably the expired ones and would you believe I bought them from different stores? 🙁 . Anyhoo, I’ve used all the above hair relaxers and really like them. My current fave is the Vitali Olive Oil Anti-Breakage No-Lye Conditioning Relaxer because it’s really gentle on my scalp, doesn’t cause any burn and it contains a mini cup of hair mayonnaise which makes my hair soft and nice. So, there you go! 😀 . What are your fave hair relaxers?

Hugs and Kisses,

  • Thanks so much for this wonderful post, infact God bless your spirit million times for your inspiration. I have been wondering the type of relaxer I could use and remain steady with a particular one because each time i retourch my hair it doesn’t relax well and after 2 days it will look like a natuaral hair. I was using dark and lovely both kit and cup but it never worked for me so i used another type which was also kit and it didn’t work out well too. I decided to be using caretimes which does not relax the hair but it darkens hair and gives it a soft texture.

I am happy to see your blog today and was overjoyed when I see this post. I am going to try the relaxer especially the one you said is your favourite.

    Thanks alot

    • Hi Dora, it’s really nice to read from you. Aww, dark and lovely became ineffective, a couple of years ago 🙁 . I’m so glad you came across this post and found it helpful. Please share your experience with the relaxer after use…would love to know your thoughts! Xx

    • Hello, you can also try Organics Olive Oil Conditioning Relaxer System. It works for me like Magic. I use one pack which has two cups in it for one year. I use one cup twice and I retouch my hair every 3months. I don’t keep it on my hair for long maybe 10mins or less. It is very good. I recommend for people. My hair is very hard so I can say it will work on any hair texture. Now my hair is long, full, dark and looks like weaveon. I don’t fix again. I was also using dark and lovely before but it started burning my hair and wasn’t relaxing it again so I stopped. Then my hair stylist is very good, she treats my hair after relaxing and anytime I wash my hair so I think all that is important as well.

  • Please my hair is short and don’t grow long but it’s really full…. I really need a product I’ll use for my hair to grow long… Please i need ur advice…

    • Hi Nnedinma, I can imagine how you feel. It will be better to talk to a professional hair stylist about this as I don’t have a vast knowledge on hair matters. Xx

  • Hello, I was keeping a virgin hair for 3years so I decided to start relaxing it due to its hard texture. At first I tried olive oil and kit, it burnt my scalp so badly, so I decide to change to ebony after which also burn my scalp too. Now I don’t know what to do whether to change to my previous relaxer or I just find another one. Please I need your opinion on this!

  • I have been changing Relaxer upon Relaxer but with this your survey….I will have to stick to one and watch the progress.

    Thanks
